Carter showed us two new signs today. Now this is progress!
He's been shaking his head 'no' for quite some time now but if he couldn't get what he wanted with that his only other option was to kick in the crying.
Today after lunch he looked at me and started clenching his fist, the sign for 'milk'! Just to see if he knew what he was doing, I gave him a sippy cup of water. A few sips later he was doing the milk sign again until I brought out a proper bottle of milk for him!
Then this afternoon, while we were having dinner, Carter gave me the 'yes' head nod when I showed him a bite of food! His 'yes' is not nearly as well controlled as his 'no' (think of a bobble head doll) but it is certainly recognizable.
For those who are keeping track at home, Carter now has 5 teeth so watch out if he tries to stuff your finger in his mouth.
